When the screw shaft rotates, due to the gravity of the material and the friction generated by the wall of the trough, the material can only move forward along the bottom of the trough of the conveyor under the push of the blades. It is the same as the translational movement of the rotating screw. The main driving force of the material is from the force of the helical blade to push the material upward and forward along the tangential direction of the blade when the helical blade rotates in the axial direction.
In order to make the screw shaft in a more favorable tension state, the driving device and the discharge port are generally placed on the same end of the conveyor, and the feed port is placed near the tail of the other end as much as possible. The rotating screw blade pushes the material to be transported, and the force that prevents the material from rotating with the screw conveyor blade is the material's own weight and the frictional resistance of the screw conveyor casing to the material. According to the different materials to be transported, the surface of the blade has solid surface, belt surface, blade surface and other types. The screw shaft of the screw conveyor has a thrust bearing at the end of the material movement direction to give the screw axial reaction force with the material. When the length of the screw conveyor is long, an intermediate suspension bearing should be added.
